Good performance for Enqvist at Portimao

After a strong performance in the first round of the VdeV Series at Barcelona last month, Campos Academy driver Henning Enqvist travelled to Portugal for the second round of this European Endurance Series, the 6 hours of Portimao.

Driving the number 8 car alongside Frenchman Antonin Borga, the pair had missed out the podium for an unpredicted pitstop with one hour to go in Barcelona. In Portimao, Borga/Enqvist showed a good pace already from the free practices, placing their Duqueine Engineering LMP3 car in 2nd position in FP1 and in 4th position in FP2, before scoring the 2nd fastest lap time in qualifying, missing out pole position to the other Duqueine car driving by Droux/Duqueine/Panciatici.

After an almost ideal beginning of race which saw Enqvist taking a front runner position, the car suffered an unfortunate fuel alimentation problem, forcing the pair to drive with their tank as full as possible, pitting repeatedly to refuel. Despite this issue, they still managed to cross the finish line in 5th position, while a podium seemed possible once again.

Enqvist/Borga will have another opportunity to score their first seasonal podium soon, on the French track of Paul Ricard for the third round of the VdeV Endurance Series.
