Strong debut for Enqvist at Barcelona

Campos Academy driver Henning Enqvist officially started his 2017 racing season, the 17th and 18th of March, on the track of Barcelona.

The home of the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix welcomed the opening round of the European VdeV Endurance Series – which includes GT and LMP3 cars – with a 4 hours race. Enqvist, who joined Campos Academy last season and started a LMP3 program at the end of 2016, competed alongside French-Swiss driver Antonin Borga for Duqueine Engineering.

After three positive free practice sessions, which saw the duo settle among the first positions, Borga qualified the number 8 car in 3rd position for the race. Enqvist took the start and quickly showed a strong pace, driving through the pack in order to bring his car to the front runners positions. Unfortunately, a misunderstanding on the radio just before the drivers’ change made them loose one lap. Borga quickly caught the time lost in order to bring their LMP3 to the first position, leading not only the LMP3 but the general classification, until an unplanned pitstop with 45 minutes to go forced the team to drop back to 5th place.

Eventually, the pair Borga-Enqvist finished the race in 4th position, in the same lap as the winner, their Duqueine Engineering team mates Droux-Duqueine-Panciatici.

A positive debut to their 2017 season, which next race will take place in Portimao, Portugal, on April 28th and 29th.
